What will you do this season?

We will participate in a regional singing competition mid-October in Minneapolis, host our annual holiday show in December, host our annual spring show in May/June, participate in the international competition in Charlotte, NC in early July, and perform at various smaller venues throughout the season.

When do you rehearse?

The chorus meets at 7:00 pm every Monday night  in Elm Grove at Elm Grove Lutheran School (945 Terrace Dr) currently for two hours and will expand to three hours at the director's discretion. See below for important information about our current rehearsal format.

Although Midwest Vocal Express rehearses year-round, the official kick-off to our 2021-2022 season begins August 16th.

Who is Midwest Vocal Express?

Midwest Vocal Express chorus is an all-male performance choir in the Milwaukee area.  We are an affiliate chorus of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an organization of over 30,000 people of all ages, from all walks of life, who love to sing a cappella harmony. If you love to sing, we encourage you to audition.

What is Barbershop music?

Barbershop is a musical style based on 4-part a cappella harmony and has a rich and exciting history. Barbershop is always sung by single voice groups in four parts, named after the male voices who traditionally sing them: tenor, lead, baritone, & bass.

Who is eligible for membership in Midwest Vocal Express?

The membership includes men of all ages, coming from all over southern Wisconsin, and from a wide variety of careers.  We look for men with a passion for performing, a desire to sing challenging music, and a commitment to perfecting your best sound and visual elements possible.

Where do you perform?

Members of Midwest Vocal Express chorus regularly enjoy competing in regional and international contests, performing at shows, community venues, and altruistic/charity performances (ex: VA hospital, Ronald McDonald House), and singing the national anthem for major sports teams.

What do rehearsals look like right now?

The recently updated CDC guidelines take into account transmission rates in every county in the US. As of August 1, 2021 and until transmission rates subside, all members and guests must show proof of vaccination  AND wear a mask in order to join our in-person rehearsals. For those not vaccinated, we continue to offer a hybrid format for people to join the in-person group via Zoom. If you would like to join us via Zoom, fill out the form below or message us on Facebook and we'll send you the link, which changes weekly.
